Production Lab of our college
well equipped lab |
Provides an introduction to the culinary arts, menu terminology, sanitation, safety, equipment, basic cooking methods, soups / sauces /stocks, meats / poultry, fish / shellfish, fruits / vegetables, sandwiches, salads, breakfast/dairy foods, and baked products. Completes practical training in a food production lab preparing products from the above categories.
Professional Food and Beverage Service
Develops confidence in the order of service from the guest's arrival to their departure. Practical training provided in the Lucy Maud Dining Room for lunch and dinner service. Additional training provided in the areas of director of service, table side cookery, beverage stewarding and an extensive wine seminar.
Food Service Operations
Develops confidence in successful restaurant operation by developing a concept, determining a location, developing a menu, planning the finances, staffing the facility, purchasing equipment and supplies, and marketing the restaurant.

Training Restaurant of our college |
Catering and Hotel Management students have the opportunity to gain practical experience in the on-campus Ultra Modern Dining Room as well as numerous industry related activities scheduled during the academic year. The program prides itself on interacting with industry and building a network which promotes career preparation and development. .
Bar and Beverage Operations
Outlines the history of the beverage industry, physical layout of the bar, beverage product knowledge, bar staffing requirements, beverage pricing, beverage cost control, marketing of the beverage operation, as well as the legal aspects of operating a bar. In a bartending lab, students develop professional bartending skills as well as responsible beverage service training.

House keeping lab |
Hospitality Facilities Management
Identifies the role of personnel and their responsibilities in regards to the operation and maintenance of hotel and restaurant facilities. Focuses on hotel and restaurant planning in the areas of design, layout, and atmosphere. Develops safety, security, plant engineering and maintenance procedures in these types of operations.
The role of housekeeping is enormous where the comfort and preferences of a traveler are concerned. In the hotel industry it is said that a superior physical product is just the beginning and can be copied with extra fizz, but what cannot be duplicated is the superior service culture that emanates through our people and systems that we follow. In housekeeping's case it is the quality of services provided in the guestroom, lobby, restaurant, spa and banqueting facilities etc. Our job starts from the very first stage of a guest booking his/her room.

Front Office & Reception |
Hotel Front Office Management focuses on a human resources approach to cover the unique management and operational challenges in the front offices of today's hotels and lodging facilities. Our course materials and training emphasis on applying theory and management strategies, as well as providing updated material on technology's role in the modernized front office.
Material is logically presented in the order of operations, beginning with an overview of lodging and then progressing through a tour of the today's front office, a review of the guest cycle, and an analysis of guest services. Our course material includes new sections on hotel risk management, security, and housekeeping management.

Computer Lab of our College |
AFC has a computer lab consisting of 40 systems and two servers (latest) with networking and all the latest software.
Proposals have been processed for bringing leased line internet connectivity for a computer lab in order to keep in pace with software technology and will be implemented shortly.
At present a 128kbps ISDN connection is available. Planning is in progress for bringing 24 hours lab facility.

Transport Facilities |
Though residential students are preferred, day-scholars are never let down. Our own busses pick them up at nodal points at fixed timings at a subsidized rate to reach the college.
For local industrial visits, picnics, educational tours and also for games and sports, our students are privileged to use the bus. The students are also provided conveyance for weekly prayer, shopping and entertainment programmes.

Our College Hostel |
AFC has provided the hostel facility for girls separetly in the view of providing a secure atmosphere to girls. The hostesl are located in the campus and as well as in Madurai. It has got good facilities and infrastructure which makes students feel comfortable and find a homely atmosphere.
Detailed thought and consideration has gone in to provide utmost comfort to the students with more personal space provided in an ideal location.

Every student should have the right kind of nourishment. It is a vital important part of any education system that is usually overlooked. A weak regimen can make a student fatigued and tired and the wrong food can lead to eccessive fat and set leathargy.
So AFC takes special care to see that all students get a dite that is prescribed to keep them fit and agile, to study better.

Reception |
Reception: This is the `front end' of the hotel where candidates with good personality, patience and good grooming will excel.
This public relations function will receive all the complaints and the occasional praise. They will need to co-ordinate with the other departments to maximise customer satisfaction. This post needs candidates with an amiable personality and good communication skills.

Class Room |
Most classrooms have some form of large writing surface on which the teacher or instructor can make notes for the class.
Traditionally, this was in the form of a blackboard but in AFC these are replaced by flipcharts, whiteboards and interactive whiteboards.
Many classrooms also have TVs, maps, charts, books, monographs, OHP and LCD projectors for presenting information and images.
AFC has set up classrooms modeled after standard Western-style restaurants, as well as having a training-purpose kitchen, bar ,and bakery. Comprehensive off-campus internship arrangements provide students with valuable experience, preparing them for higher education or license examinations.

Apart from providing the best of reading materials published in the Catering and Hotel Management Industry, we also provide access to information products online and a wide range of services set to the highest professional standards.
The popularity and utility of any Institution go with its library. Our college library is one of the oldest and the best in our university area. Every year we add books to the library. Every year around 1500 to 2000 books are added to the Library . Over 65 Periodicals and 11 news papers are available in the library reading room.
